Every year on the last Friday in June, the Taste of Chicago is held in the United States. The Culinary Arts Festival takes place in Grant Park in downtown Chicago, Illinois, and lasts 10 days. “Taste of Chicago” is one of Illinois’ significant events.
The festival tradition was established in 1980. The first one-day gourmet festival was held on U.S. Independence Day. The culinary festival was celebrated by 250,000 people, but every year the number of participants and the number of days increased. The food and music festival is already attended by more than 3 million people annually, who come from all over the world.
Participants in the festival are representatives of the restaurant business of Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and other cities.
Cooking and tasting a variety of dishes is in full swing at Grant Park on the shores of Lake Michigan in tents, in gazebos and under tents. There is a huge selection of dishes presented not only in classic versions, but also in original recipes. All these culinary masterpieces from the best chefs can be tasted by visitors to the festival. Taste of Chicago features menus from Chicago restaurants and cafes: Chicago-style pizza, guacomole, Chicago barbecue, ice cream, desserts and more, but you can also get acquainted with national cuisines of the world (French, Irish, Italian, Mexican, African, etc.).
The chefs hold master-classes on cooking various American, European and Asian dishes and their serving.
The festival program is not limited only to culinary delights tasting. Festival guests can take part in cultural activities. Entertainment for every taste – contests, games, amusement rides, songs, dances… Famous artists perform on the main stage of Grant Park. At Taste of Chicago there are many surprises.
