Tomorrowland 2023: Best Electronic Music Festival

Tomorrowland is one of the largest electronic music festivals in Europe and the world. People come from all over the world to listen to them: from Japan and Australia to Brazil and Argentina. And the organizing team annually prepares an incredible show, builds a beautiful stage, and does everything to make visitors’ rest as comfortable as possible.

The festival takes place on two weekends – Weekend 1 and Weekend 2 (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). The program differs quite a bit.

History of the Festival

The first Tomorrowland took place on August 14, 2005, and was organized by ID&T. Yes, back then, it was still a one-day event, and the performers included M.I.K.E., Armin van Buuren, Cor Fijneman, Yves Deruyter, Technoboy, Y.O.J.I. and Coone. By 2017, the festival had grown so much that it had been held for two weekends, and even royalty visited it: the King and Queen of Belgium.

With a tiny main stage and few other stages, it was more of an event that attracted locals rather than those from all corners of the earth. However, the line-up then was as complex as it is today. About 10,000 people are said to have attended this first event, and the organizers even gave away free tickets to fill in the gaps in attendance, which is pretty hard to believe when you look at images of the crowd on the main stage from later editions. From here, we know that the story of Tomorrowland is complex and interesting.

Tomorrowland is, without a doubt, the biggest and most important dance music festival on the planet. House, E.D.M., techno, drum & bass, hardstyle, and every other genre of electronic music are represented by worldwide superstars of the highest level known to humanity. Thanks to every detail of the festival, a trip to Tomorrowland leaves a lasting impression and remains in memory for a long time after the festival. Tomorrowland tickets and package tours always sell out in minutes. For those lucky enough to be here, this trip is guaranteed to be remembered for a lifetime!

Best Formative Years

A lot happened between the 2010, 2011, and 2012 releases. Considered by many to be the three most important events in the history of Tomorrowland, these three years have put the festival on the world map forever.

  1. 2010: Breaking records, the festival sold out only a few days before the event, and visitors reached an all-time high of approximately 120,000 people in just two days. The “Sun” theme featured an iconic oversized rainbow on the main stage (fans will see it now paying homage to the entrances and exits of Dreamville (it’s a tent city near the festival site with its stage where the festival kicks off a few days early). Swedish House Mafia also performed what would be regarded as one of the most iconic sets in the festival’s history that year.
  2. 2011: Tomorrowland first expanded to three days in 2011 and has never looked back. In keeping with the way it usually sells out in today’s world, the festival sold out just a few days after the presale ended, proving that it has officially become one of the biggest and most sought-after festivals worldwide. 180,000 people enjoyed the holiday this year. Due to its fame, it was first nominated for the International Dance Music Awards in the Best Musical Event category.
  3. 2012: This edition is highly regarded and perhaps the most legendary. Its theme, The Book of Wisdom, has been chosen to return for its 15th anniversary in 2019. While it is known that those with Belgian residency now receive a special ticket sale, this edition was the first time the idea was introduced. To pay homage to where it all started and give back to the local community somehow, around 80,000 tickets have been allocated to Belgian citizens. By now, it has become known that getting tickets was extremely difficult, as evidenced by the fact that Tomorrowland sold out almost 200,000 tickets in less than one day.

The scale of the festival

After a couple of years of building up and building a solid foundation, Tomorrowland began to seriously attract attention, which led to the fact that already its third edition in 2007, for the first time in its history, increased to 2 days. Many others started to make a name for themselves in the network of electronic festivals and took notice of this rapidly growing event. On July 28 and 29, the size and design of the main stage also began to grow, along with an extremely large number of visitors. Just a year later, they had over 100 artists in their line-up for the first time, in line to become a major part of the electronic scene and make history by drawing over 50,000 people for the first time.

Final Thoughts

If you are a fan of this genre of music, then the festival will bring you great pleasure. The ocean of emotions and the same fans of electro music will not let you get bored. Everyone will be able to hear all the top DJs in the world and watch the amazing light and pyrotechnic show at the festival. At Tomorrowland, all the little things are considered, which is not often seen. But the royal family will come, so why not do everything at the highest level? The festival has a pleasant atmosphere, so you can safely plan your vacation and dedicate it to Tomorrowland in 2023.
